    Oatmeal porridge was the principal food used long ago. Water was boiled and oatmeal was thrown into it. It had to be kept mixed until it was boiled. Then it was eaten with milk. To make oaten-bread oatmeal was mixed with hot water and put on the pan to bake.

  2. A bunch of young nettles was cut and chopped up finely and put down in an oven with bacon. It was let boil for a while and then it was taken up
