  1. The only travelling folk who come our way are tinkers and gipsies. The gipsies have about two orses. They buy linoleum cheaply in Dublin and sometimes in Sligo and they sell it out the country. They make cane and wicker baskets and chairs which they sell too. They seem well off and have brightly coloured caravans. They accept potatoes, eggs, milk, flour etc. but they do not ask for anything until they get your money first for any purchases. The principal families visiting out district are the McDonaghs and the Maloneys.
