- This little school is situated within three miles of Sligo town, in the parish of Calry. There is not much of historical importance in the immediate vicinity, but am sending on what I have been able to glean.
I once heard that it got its name from a great slaughter which took place in the early 17th. century. Hugh O'Donnell was one of the parties concerned but the other I was unable to locate. Its Irish spelling should, in my opinion, be Baile an Árluigh (ár= slaughter). The old lady who told me of the(continues on next page)
