- Some people boil nettles as food for turkeys. They also cook watercress for the dinner. Dandelion is a very common wild flower. It is used for the heart, cooked or raw.Bogbane is used for a cough or bad cold. Dockens are very harmful. They grow on bad land.
- It is said that in the year 1847 when the potato crop failed in Ireland all the land grew wild with weeds.

The most harmful weeds on the farm are the docken's and thistles because they spread very quickly and destroy the land in a short time.
Herbs and plants grow mostly where the land is good. They don't grow so numerous where the land is bad or marshy.
