  1. Mr. James Devins had a narrow escape one time. He was eating his dinner, with his wife and a neighbour, when this big flash of lightning came. It put his knife whizzing round on the plate.
    There was a great cloud burst in this district. The rain came down as if it was being poured out of a can. It flooded out the houses, and it came down the chimney and put out the fires.
