  1. Once there lived in Lislahelly an old man and his wife. They were very poor
One night the man dreamed that there was a crock of gold hidden under a white thorn bush at the foot of the mountain. He dreamt about it three nights in succession. On the third night he dreamt that there was a serpent beside the crock but if he has a cat with him the serpent would begin to fight with the cat, and then he could get the crock of gold.
The next day he told his neighbors about the dream. They decided to start about midnight to dig for it. Before they left they saved the Rosary. They had no cat, but decided to steal one. Just before they left a black cat walked in the door. They brought her with them.
There was one man with them, and every sod they would turn he used to curse when he would not get the gold. The man dug till daylight but did not get the gold.
