    The Priest said, "Tell him come out as once, I want to see him." Palmerston came out and Fr. McHugh said; "Look here, Palmerston, you have nothing to do with my flock or you shall be the worse of it." Palmerston went in and from then out never interfered with the schools.
    Matt Leonard never for the school back but was sent to college by the Parish Priest and later became one himself. The teachers in Cliffoney school are traced back thus. Clarke was first teacher, Leonard, Salier, Cairns, McGloin and the present one P. McHugh.
