    combed or hackled or torn asunder with this. It was then tied in small bundles ready for spinning. When spun it was woven and then dyed.
    To dye brown, heather was boiled in a pot and the water or juice was strained off the dye, the less water used.
    Fawn or Black.
    For this, soot was boiled and water strained off as above, the more soot used for black.
    There were other colours but I failed to find the necessary dying herbs.
