    cost - homespun wool and usually a white colour but sometimes of grey or brown. They used to be dyed.
    Boot
    This was in this manner: Two men are transacting business. Say A and B. The value of A's goods is greater than B's. So if the bargain is made B has to give something else as well. Say he was giving a calf to A in exchange for food stuff. Well, if he would give cloth or something else along with the calf, this was called boot. The term is still in use and it helps to complete many bargains made at home or at the fair.
