    the lower one. This was produced oatmeal for porridge and rye meal for bread.
    The common food was potato cake, Boxty Bread, rye bread and Oatmeal bread. Boxty - I have described this a few pages forward.
    The potatoes were boiled after been cleaned. Then they were peeled and bruised by some flat article. Some salt was added, butter or fat and rolled out thin. Then cut into slices and baked on a gridiron. This was 4 or 5 pieces of wire twisted into a flat shape, somewhat like the present shop one.
