One day while here a man was fishing in the river Duff. He asked the man to give a salmon and the man refused. Saint Patrick became angry and cursed the river and said that there would never be plentiness of salmon in it. This is really the case as it is very little salmon that are caught; very little trout either. This is very remarkable because in the Drowes River which is only 3 miles further to the North, there are plenty.
On leaving the Duff river he proceeded onwards to the Drowes river. This river separates Leitrim from Donegal just as the Duff river separates Leitrim from Sligo.
