  1. The following are believed to be signs of rain in this locality:-
    The apparent nearness of Benbulben Mountains, of Innishmurray Island, and of the Donegal Mountains;
    Many small flies in the air on a summer;s evening;
    A dog eating grass;
    Greyish rays seen from the sun when setting;
    Soot falling down the chimney;
    The noise of the sea at Staid;
    The clouds moving towards to north;
    A rainbow at morning;
    The sea birds coming in on Carrig na Vean;
    A noise in the river when there's no flood in it.
    When the following signs appear, good weather is approaching:-
    A far-away appearance of Benbulben mountain, Innishmurray and the Donegal mountains;
    Swallows flying high;
    A robin seated on the top of a bush on a summer's morning;
    The noise of the sea at Thor Rock;
    The clouds moving towards the south.
