    A few hundred years ago a beautiful city used to be seen back at Rossbeigh once every seven years and people from all parts of Ireland used come to see it.

    Shea wished to have the "brat". So he got the best horse that was around and went out towards the "brat". He snatched the garment off the wall and rolled it under the saddle. When the mermaid missed the "brat" she immediately called on "Tonn Toime" which flowed swiftly after the man on the horse. As the animal was nearing the strand, the wave overtook him and cut the horse in two. The man brought the mantle to his own home and hid it in the loft of the house. The mermaid followed him and demanded the mantle, which he refused to give. She stayed in the house and he married her and they had two beautiful daughters.
    One day, aftetr thirteen years, the mantle fell down off the loft. When the mermaid saw it she laughed
