  1. A Commonage
    There was a commonage in Shanahill and Thomas and Timothy OBrien owned it.
    They had the grass of six cows and they kept there an equal number of cattle and sheep. They also kept one horse to do both of their work.
    They used to plough a field for potatoes and each one of them would manure every second ridge and set potatoes in them.
    They also used to set oats and divide it into two equal parts. They used to save the hay together in the same field and the fences were well kept by both families. The rent of it was small, five pound a year.
    They reared large families and never disputed about anything.
    The OBriens were living in two houses and they had out houses for all the animals. They used to keep the cows in the same house and they
