- About thirty years ago Major Chute lived at Glenfield in Camp. He was great friends with Paddy Griffin and Tom Ashe. One day they were drinking together in a public house. The Major bet them a sum of money that they would not bring a pot from a fort in Gloungalt to the cross at Camp.
One day the two men went for the pot and they brought it to a house at the cross. Anything that was put into it would never boil and it was put out on the roadside. Soon after the two men got paralized and they were advised to put the pot back where they got it.
The pot was put into a car that was coming from Tralee and it fell out on the road. It got broken and the men had to buy another pot which was put in the place of the broken one. The men got alright after that.Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
