The first thing that is done is to put a stick standing upright in the middle of the road.
Then we draw a line about ten yards apart on each side of it.
Then we select two teams which we shall call A and B. The usual number playing is five or six but any number can play.
Each team had a captain and a penny is tossed up to show which one will begin the game.
A stick about three feet long is got and he throws it at the upright stick and if he knocks it all the players in his team will run(continues on next page)
