  1. Long ago there was a seminary where students were studying for the priesthood. A bishop came to see them and he asked the priest in charge how were they getting on. "All right," said he, "but one of them could not give a straight answer to any question" "I will get a straight answer from him," said the Bishop. "John," said he, to the student, "could you baptise a child with soup?"
    "Well, my lord," said John, "you could not baptise a child with the soup your lordship gets, but you could, I think, baptise a child with the soup we are getting, because it is all water." The bishop laughed at the answer.
