carry their turkeys to Causeway. Others carry them to Ballyheigue. They get a shilling a lb for them or so.
Then the turkeys are killed and cleaned out. Then they are sent off to England. The people of the house always keep a turkey for Christmas day, for without one there would be no Christmas.
The weight of a turkey-cock is about twenty pounds. The weight of a hen turkey is about twelve pounds.
The turkeys destroy all the corn fields, because they pull off all the heads of the corn.
The colour of a turkey's egg is brown and white. The egg is about the size of a duck's egg.
