- The most famous man who won fame for himself recently in the field of activity was Michael Quinlan, Ballinbranig, Ballyduff.
He ran from Ardfert to Tralee, a distance of about six miles, and gave two rounds of the sportsfield in record time. The next strong man was John McCarthy of Ardagh.
He lifted a pig about three hundred weight, and put her into a horse's rail.
John Mahony of Feans was also noted for his strength. He used lift stones in Gunsborough quarry which lay there untouched or unable to be raised by several others.
