  1. I left my home when I was young,
    And for Yankey land did steer.
    Scarcely 18 years of age.
    No danger did I fear.
    It been in April 63
    In board of the Princess Crown
    I bid farewell to all my friends
    Beside old Castle Browne.

    Father died when we were young,
    And mother pined away.
    With orphans 4 she had no store
    And the rent she could not pay
    The Land Lord came one Winter's day
    When the freezing snow poured down
    And we had to leave with broken hearts
    Our home near Castle Browne.

    So to America I did go
    And the wish was in my mind
