  1. Slievadara means the mountain of the dogs. It was not known why the townland got its name. It was a favourite resort of the fox about fifty or sixty years ago, and the landlords of the different estates around came here with hounds hunting the fox.

    Addergown means between two rivers Idir dhá Abhainn and so it is. There is a river in the east and a river in the west of the townland.
