    The Great Swimmers in the Townland of Clashmealcon in Former Times were,
    Denis Dowling Ardagh Causeway,
    Timothy Connor Boherbawn,
    Harry ONeill Boherbawn
    Patrick Casey Clashmealcon
    John Sullivan Kilmore.
    They swam from the Cashen Mouth to Ballybunion a distance of five miles.
    They also swam from Castle Browne to Meenaghane, a distance of nine miles.
    The great oarsmen were Patrick Lynch, John Harrington, David Dillon, John Sullivan and Daniel Sullivan.
    (They are all dead now)
