  1. I have heard tales about the big wind of 6th January 1839 it knocked down some houses in this district unroofed others and stripped the thatch of every house. It killed a woman in this district. It blew straw, hay and it did not leave a wisp in any open haggard.
    Another storm took place the 26th of February 1903. It lasted from 9 P. M. to 4 A. M. It did great damage also in this district.
    There was a great storm in November 1886. It turned an engine at the Cashen Mouth.
    We had a great snowstorm 1892 the snow was about ten feet high in some places.
