Long ago there lived in the Parish of Kilmactigue a man named Taffe. This man was married and had one son and one daughter. His wife died and he had a maid who was a Catholic but Taffe was a protestant.
One day these children were invited to a party in a Catholic house. They were not allowed to sit at the table with the Catholics, but were put to a side-table.
When they went home their Father Taffe asked how did they enjoy the party. The children told him that they were put to a side-table. Taffe wanted to know the reason. When it was.
