  1. About a hundred years ago there lived in Carns a woman named Winnie Henry and her husband and an only child. They lived on a small farm in a little cabin. Her husband who was a "hackler" (one who hackles flax) went occasionally to Ulster to sell the hackled flax.
    One night the husband was away in the North and the poor old woman was milking the cow into a noggin. (a small wooden jug). When the noggin was filled she teamed the milk into a tub that she had beside her for the purpose. While the old woman was milking her only child was sitting on the
