    the rent.
    Evictions were not numerous. Only one is spoken of, that of Biddie Mc Entyre, a poor widow in Banada. She had one son who died of Consumption. She was to be evicted on a certain day because she owed rent which she was unable to pay. On the day appointed (?) the neighbours gathered around the house. Each man was armed with pots, pans, tongs, pitch-forks or crooks to fight her cause against the bailiffs. The bailiffs on seeing on seeing the blood-thirsty mob grew afraid and returned home. On the next day however she was evicted. That night the men returned burst open the house door and put Biddie back into her old home again.
