    the lands were confiscated and the Monks dispersed.
    The Abbey and estate were bestowed on Rodger Jones one of Cromwell's followers. The tenants had a very hard time under his rule but strange to say he married a Catholic lady of high birth who was very kind to the poor.
    According to the custom of those days anyone found guilty of a grave public sin was denounced from the altar - Sir Rodger Jones, having heard that one of his servants incurred this penalty was furious. The following Sunday he went to Mass with the intention of horse-whipping
