  1. Dear friends we meet in love to-night on Columbia's lovely shore.
    Three thousand miles from Ireland's hills we might not see any more.
    Far dearer still is the fairy hill than any other to me.
    In our own dear native mother tongue they call it Knocknashee.

    Far dear to me the memory sweet recollection bring
    How I listen the live-long day to the thrush and blackbird sing,
    How softly would the Cuckoo call from off the willow tree,
    How sweet her sound re-echoed round the hill of Knocknashee.

    How deeply pictured in my mind the places for there I've seen.
    There are Kesh and Geevagh Ballymote and the hills round sweet Gurteen,
