  1. There was once a Priest and he was called on a sick call at night in Winter tie up to the top of the mountain He told the boy to saddle the mare and ás gho brar with the Priest in the pitch black of the night. He had to cross a stream on his way to the house. When he came to the ford the mare stood up a stiff as a stake and would not budge an inch. He coaxed him and patted him but one foot apass the other the mare would not put. I will try another plan said the Priest to himself drawing his silver riding whip and lashing the mare with it but it was as well for him be throwing stones at his over coat. The Priest knew then that there was something on foot so he blessed himself and threw his whip across the stream. With that the mare started and never stopped until she reached the sick man's house. The Priest attended him and came home again. In the morning he sent his
