  1. When St Patrick was on his way to Croagh Patrick he went across at Lough Easkey, Dromore West, Co Sligo. Where the river Easkey issues from the lake there is a narrow passage and up here salmon used go to spawn. St Patrick was crossing at this passage and he stood on a salmon. From that day to this a salmon never entered the lake to spawn. The people of the place say that St Patrick cursed the lake.
