  1. (continued from previous page)
Cheer up my brave young Irish lad
    Your'e now at my command
No Englishman can touch my ship nor stop us now on sea
It landed in New York City all in America
When I landed at the harbour it was a lovely day
I bade adieu to the ship and crew before I went away
The captain wrote a letter and this to me did say
Give this to my wife and children and say it came from me
Her husband Tony Duffy is a Captain on the sea.
The song was composed by Johnny Bán who was a native of Easkey and died in the Dromore West Workhouse about 37 years ago.
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
