  1. It is said that a man the name of John Haran lived in this place who could jump two horses about seven feet high. He jumped the Easkey River when the police were after him for poaching.
    He made a bet with a man of nine pounds that he would jump the Easkey River with six stone weight on his back.
    He jumped it at his ease and won the bet . He also jumped a wall about nine feet high, and two feet wide. This took place at Gleneaskey. He was ninety years when he died and he is dead about fifteen years.
