  1. There is a treasure supposed to be hidden under a bush in a field belonging to Mr. Michael Connolly of Ballinahowna. It is near the Easkey river on the left bank and between a ruined castle and a fort.
    It is not known locally by whom placed there.
    A native of Cavan dreamt of the treasure. Even though he was a stranger, he came on horseback. There was no bridge on the river and the horse bolted and refused to cross the castle ford.
    The Cavan man thought it was an ill omen so he would not venture.
    There was no account of treasure being found.
    There are no traditions connecting the Danes with hidden treasure. There is a chain of forts believed to be danes dwellings along the
