  1. There are two forges in the parish. The smiths are John Conlon and Tom Flattley. They have been smiths for many years. John Conlon's forge is situated beside Duneill River and beside the Mail Coach Road. Tom Flattley's forge is beside Dunbeakin Road and near Dunbeakin RIver. Both forges have a thatched roof and one fireplace. The implements that a smith uses are as follows a sledge, a hammar, an anvil, a vice, a pair of tongs, horse nails and bars of iron. The blacksmith shoes horses and asses. He repairs farm implements but he does not make them He puts the tyre on a cart wheel in the open air. The blacksmith cannot banish rats.
