- (continued from previous page)very excited except the two brothers. They were seemingly quite indifferent as to what might happen. The Princess stepped forward - She ordered the brothers to go outside with their respective stock one was to stand outside one door with his stock & the other was to stand outside another door with his. When she called each with his stock was to come through the door at which he was standing, towards her into the palace in front of the King & courtiers. Then she said she would make her selection. The two brothers did as they were told & when she called both came in. She knew at once which was her husband by the gold chains on the necks of his stock.
She walked over to Billy & embraced him & said ‘You are my husband.' The Riddle was solved - Billy & the Princess lived happily together ever afterwards - Jack & his stock set out on the road of adventure again. Nothing ever afterwards happened to disturb the peace of their lives.- Collector
