- (continued from previous page)himself & food for his stock. He then proceeded to the King’s castle. He was met on the avenue by the King’s daughter who mistook him for Billy & greeted him as she would greet her husband.
Jack informed her that he was not Billy but his brother Jack but that he felt that Billy was in grave danger & he wished to know where he was. She then told him of the hunt & of his not returning. Next day they organised a hunt again. Jack & his stock joined in the hunt.
About mid-day the same witch crossed their path & all pursued her. After some time Jack found himself alone in his chase of the witch. When the witch reached the same tree she climbed it to the top & there sat on a branch. Jack ordered her to come down - She said as before, “If you tie up your stock I will.” Jack ordered her to hand down her wand first. She did so & when Jack got the wand he changed the five stones back to their original forms. He then slew the witch & Jack & Billy & their respective stocks returned to the Princess amid great rejoicings. Now the trouble(continues on next page)- Collector
