    how this man had saved her life & was really responsible for bringing her back to him. The sailor was ragged, unwashed & unshaven & looked, rather a miserable sight after his year's wandering. The father thought he was not worthy of his daughter & proposed that they should reward him & let her marriage with the Captain take place as had been arranged. The girl said "No where he goes, I go." The father, seeing what his daughter thought of this man, began to think that there must be more good in him than there appeared to be & consented to give him back his daughter as his wife. The sailor asked what was to be done with the captain & the father said they would burn him in a barrel of tar. The sailor said that since he had come safe & since all was well & since he had been reunited with his wife he wanted no revenge. He proposed that the Captain should be allowed to go free. This was done. The story spread throughout the
