    pounds. The boy paid the fine and the girl was released. When released she came to him to thank him & told that she would now follow him no matter where he went. He told her he had neither money nor means and she was very foolish to come to that decision. She said she did not mind about money or means but that where he went, she went, & he got a bit she would get a bit. He then agreed to let her with him.
    They remained in the neighbourhood of the port till the ship was sailing to Sligo again. In the meantime, he saw a man, one day, tied to a stake on the top of the same hill on which he saw the girl on the day of his arrival. He again inquired the cause & he was told the man would be put to death unless he paid a fine of ten pounds. He again paid the fine and the man was released. The man came & thanked him & said that he hoped he would be able to help him some day. Next day his ship set sail
