- Long a go there lived a woman in Rathlee. She brought her churn to the well to wash and scrub it. She used a bunch of heather as a scrubbing brush. She forgot to bring her brush back with her and another woman picked it up and kept it. The woman who lost her brush never had a good churning after that. She could never get butter off her milk and the woman who found the brush always had twice the usual quantity of butter from her milk.Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
