  1. Once upon a time there lived a man in Lenadoon. He was very very poor and had no horse . He was always wishing to have one.
    One morning he got up early and put down a fire and took the can to go to the well for a can of water as he was going across the field the saw a black mare grazing in it . He walked up and spoke to her kindly . The mare put her head into his hands and then to man coaxed her home with him.
    She stayed with him for twelve years and each year she reared a foal . As they grew up he sold them and got a good price for them.
