  1. Clooneenmore school will be a century old next year, having been built in the year 1839. It was a new school, when the famine came in 1846 and 1847. Ten years before this school was built, Daniel O'Connell won the Catholic Emancipation. A great many children were taught the true faith. It was an old school when the Landlord evicted the tenants out of their homes During the Civil War some of the boys took possession of it, and lived in it.
