- Johnny McNamara lived in the house now occupied by Paddy Coleman, Loganemma. In 1847 Johnny left for England and in the early 70's sent a poem of 8 verses to Johnny Dowd. The following are the only verses that seanachil can now remember.

My name is McNamara
In England I'm forlorn
In Culleens of Tireragh
The place where I was born
Both here and there
I am in constant meditation
Upon the fate of Ireland
That persecuted nation.

In Eighteen Hundred and Forty Seven
I left my native home
The Landlords that time
Proved tyrants which caused
Thousands for to roam
They seized upon our cattle
And they sold them at their will
And they didn't leave one animal
