- A mermaid is half a fish and half a woman. It is said she is seen once in seven years, and when ever she is seen people say three persons will be drowned that year.
It is said that long ago a man saw a mermaid combing her hair on the rock. He stole up to her and snatched her comb and ran off with it hiding it in a loft. She followed him to the house and he forced her to marry him. She consented. She worked there for nine years and one day she was cleaning a loft where she got her comb. She ran off with it and was never seen since.- Collector
