In Ardfert village there lives a man by the name of John Hillard. He beat everyone he ever went racing with, he is said to be the best runner for miles around.
The best singer of the locality is Michael Hanifan of Moun who is still alive and is also the best for playing musical instruments (flute). - Long ago it is said there lived a man in Banna in the parish of Ardfert. His name was Thomas Lawlor. He was known as to be one of the most famous singers in Kerry.
His great songs were known as "The bellows of our country's forge. The song he often sang to cheer the hearts of his comrades.- Collector
