  1. The houses long ago were made of mud and some houses were made of sod. They were built in bogs and in wastes pieces of land and in boundaries. There were three sod houses in Gurtadrislig. A tailor was living in one of the houses and he had a lot of people working for him. There was no road near the houses and they used have a candle in the night to guide them through the bog. "An old man said one time that you should know navigation to get in there."
