  1. A Mermaid is supposed to be half fish and half woman. A story is told about a mermaid. She was seen in the strand of Kilmore. She was sitting on a rock on the verge of the water. She was noticed to be combing her hair which was of a golden colour. With the bone of a small fish she used to comb her hair. Also she had a small cap which she placed on the rock. It is said that several men tried to capture her but all no good, until this day a man all alone was in the strand and seeing this golden head of hair he took a great fancy to her.
