  1. In various parts of Ireland and especially in county Kerry, the people have strange ideas about marriage customs. In some counties they have an idea about marriage and in the county bordering it the idea might be the very opposite. Here in Ireland a lot of marriages take place every year particularly during Shrove. Lent starts immediately after Shrove and marriages are forbidden during this season. They are also forbidden during Advent. The unlucky months to get married are July and August and on the Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
