  1. Matchmaking is still very customary. In the olden times girls of age to marry went to Listowel every fair day and market day during shrove to be seen by the young men looking for wives.
    Matches are usually drawn down by some friends who are interested in the boy or girl. If the account seems suitable the parties concerned meet on an appointment day. Relations of the boy and girl are present as well as the parties. The land, the stock, the living, the fortune etc are discussed. Plenty of
