  1. Poilín or what is in English Pullen gets its name from the nature of the land holdings. The land of small holdings came about when a large land owner named sandes divided the district into small farms and let the on lease to local tenants who in return paid him by a land rent this rent was paid yearly or half yearly and the amount paid was fixed at so much per acre of land.
