  1. About forty years ago a man of this district named Timothy Scanlon, was on his way home from Ballylongford, about one o'clock one night. All of a sudden, a light shone in front of him and he went towards it, but it kept ahead of him all the time.
    He followed it until he found himself in a bog-hole. He was up to his neck in water and could not come out of it. The following day huntsmen found him
